openGENESIS: A big milestone for safe Artificial Intelligence (AI) for vehicles


A big milestone on the way to a safe Artificial Intelligence has been taken. The community and working group "openGENESIS" was now officially founded last week on 18th July 2019. Together with DFKI (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence), iMotion and Incenda AI as Participation Member, Driver Member TÜV openGENESIS: cooperation platform for vehicle AISÜD has launched the collaborative platform under the umbrella of the Eclipse Foundation with the mission to provide knowledge, methods and tools for the assessment of artificial intelligence (AI) that is used within autonomous driving applications.

As collaborative open platform the openGENESIS working group provides both public and regulatory authorities with approaches to help them deal with the challenges of AI approval and certification. It drives and supports the investigation of an understandable, verifiable and certifiable AI.

Within the Foundation Meeting on the 18th July 2019, iMotion and TÜV SÜD have been nominated as the steering committee members. In addition, Matthis Eicher, Senior Expert Functional Safety at TÜV SÜD, was officially elected for one year as first chairman of the steering committee of openGENESIS. Within the past few months the founding members already developed a common understanding of the community and started to connect interested parties with each other. As first openGENESIS spotlight project the community members will discuss and work on the topic of “How to ensure correct ground-truth information in training data for AI”.
