#FutureInYourHands – This motto properly describes how TÜV SÜD empowers its employees. It’s best to hear from TÜV SÜD executives and staff members what their personal experiences are working for TÜV SÜD.
Can you describe your role within TÜV SÜD?
I am an Account Executive for the Western U.S. and my focus is to sell medical device safety testing services, along with EMC and bio-compatibility services. I’ve been in the Medical Health Services division for almost a year now.
How did you choose this career path?
I’ve been with TÜV SÜD for almost seven years now. I started as an Inside Sales Representative for the Business Assurance (BA) division and I covered North America for all auditing services. Over the course of several years, I was heavily involved in marketing and working with Account Executives, so I sought out new opportunities. When the position for an Outside Sales Account Executive became available, I took advantage of that opening and interviewed for the role. It has certainly been a learning experience, but I really enjoy being in a position that is well-suited for me.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the customer service aspect the most. I really love speaking to people and being able to offer them help. I think providing a great customer service experience is key, no matter what role you’re in. I’ve been working in customer service roles since I was 14, so I have always enjoyed helping people get what they need.
Are there any challenges that you’ve faced during your career that have taught you important lessons?
The biggest challenge for me is being able to accept that I will never know the answer to everything. Usually when I don’t know the answer to something, I’ll get upset with myself and spend a lot of time doing research and reading to improve my knowledge. It’s challenging to be presented with engineering-related questions since I’ve never been in an engineering role. Although, despite being a bit of an adjustment, I’m learning how to properly navigate my way around, so I can be reliable resource when questions like that do arise.
What do you think the industry will look like 20 years from now?
I think with the way technology is constantly developing and evolving, we’ll see differences in everything around us. From the small details to everyday items, like cars and computers, everything will continue to grow, and our services will also continue to evolve and expand as well to accommodate future standards.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I live in San Diego, so I love to take advantage of the sunshine and nice weather. I also enjoy walking around the downtown area and hanging out with friends.
