#FutureInYourHands – This motto properly describes how TÜV SÜD empowers its employees. It’s best to hear from TÜV SÜD executives and staff members what their personal experiences are working for TÜV SÜD.
Can you describe your role within TÜV SÜD?
I am the Central Regional Manager for TÜV SÜD Product Services. I oversee the testing service lines in my region and our newly formed service center, which provides sales and project management support. I also provide support to our Sales team and aim to ensure that we have a positive and productive work environment for our engineers and technicians.
How did you choose this career path?
I have always had an interest in engineering. From the time I began working in the testing and certification industry, I’ve enjoyed assisting manufacturers identify target markets and launch the latest technologies. My interest in management stems from the fact that I like to help people and learn about their motivations and goals. I have over 15 years of experience in a leadership position, so I know it’s important to understand what goals your team members have for the future, as well as know how to properly guide them on how to accomplish those goals.
How has international experience affected your work?
I had an incredible experience living in Germany for two years, where I worked with numerous people across the European Union. Because of this opportunity, I have a better understanding of various cultures and their approach to business. I have also learned that proper communication is key when leading a team or negotiating with a customer. Without great communication, a company’s content and message may be conveyed in the wrong way.
What do you value most as an employee?
I value the people. Everyone I have met here is genuinely committed to our customers. Because of that, we foster a very collaborative and supportive work environment. I’m proud to work for a company that provides high-quality service and concentrates on developing a consistent, long-term growth track, while investing time and resources into its employees.
What do you think the industry will look like 20 years from now?
I believe the industry will have more harmonized requirements globally. I think there will be an increase in the use of testing laboratories for performance and helping people differentiate their products. I also think we’ll see an exponential growth in the use of technology across the manufacturing field, such as the ability to conduct remote evaluations.
When not working, how do you spend your spare time?
I love anything that involves the outdoors. I own a lot of pets and a small vineyard, so I enjoy various activities like hiking, kayaking, and growing grapes.
