Explosion protection compliance

ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU

Safety engineering in potentially explosive atmospheres

Safety engineering in potentially explosive atmospheres

The ATEX Directive for all explosion-proof equipment and systems includes anything used within, or in conjunction with potentially explosive atmospheres such as safety, control and regulation devices, and protective components, equipment, and systems.

Equipment, components and protective systems in a potentially explosive environment can only be placed on the market if essential health and safety requirements according to the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU have been met, and the required conformity assessment procedures for your category of equipment have been successfully completed.

TÜV SÜD’s Industrial Technical Inspection Services, together, with its legal accredited Notified Body in Europe, can assist customers with the certification of equipment, components, protective systems and entire processing plants for all equipment groups and categories.

TÜV SÜD experts can assist manufacturers in the process of classifying their products to equipment type, equipment category and other classification requirements found within:

  • The ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU
  • The relevant EN standards for electrical and non-electrical equipment
  • The requirements coming from customers of manufacturers (e.g. zones) related to the ATEX “Workplace” Directive 1999/92/EC
