TÜV SÜD is life cycle partner of the real estate industry

At Bosch Connected World 2019, to be held in Berlin from 15 to 16 May 2019, TÜV SÜD will showcase its extensive service portfolio for smart buildings (Stand S26). The services offered extend from planning to construction and operation. The international service group also sponsors the Trusted IoT & Smart Construction Challenge, held during the BCW.

BIM-auditThe services provided by TÜV SÜD's Real Estate & Infrastructure Division cover the entire life cycle of real estate. “End-to-end thinking is a key element of our services. We make sure to integrate all topics that can be considered in an early stage of planning”, says CEO of Division Joachim Birnthaler. “Against this backdrop, we continuously advance and improve our services and expertise.” In the future, for example, our experts will make use of digital methods for recording their on-site building inspection reports, thereby offering clients significantly greater levels of efficiency and convenience. Another focal area involves equipping buildings and building services with sensors to enable automated monitoring of building systems in real time. “This is also of major interest for existing buildings”, points out Birnthaler. “By transforming conventional existing buildings into smart buildings, we can optimise processes and enhance safety.” TÜV SÜD's use case for the Trusted IoT & Smart Construction Challenge also addresses this subject. The challenge drives digitisation by bringing together leading industrial companies and selected startups.

Another important topic is Building Information Modelling (BIM). “We are convinced that digitisation will change the face of the entire industry and that BIM will be at the centre of this development where new buildings are concerned”, emphasises Joachim Birnthaler. According to the CEO of Division, compared to other approaches BIM offers higher levels of certainty that projects will stay within budget and schedule, plus better risk management and significant potential for savings in the planning and construction phase. “In addition, the digital twin of the building offers the opportunity of combining digital planning with subsequent operations”, explains Birnthaler. Given this, BIM allows us to map our conventional inspection services right from the planning stage as well as simulate the operating costs during the building's operating phase later.“ TÜV SÜD's services in this area comprise BIM consulting, BIM implementation, BIM management, BIM design and BIM training as well as BIM audits and improvement.
