TÜV SÜD and IBM are jointly developing data-based services and business models in which both partners

TÜV SÜD and IBM are jointly developing data-based services and business models in which both partners contribute their specific knowledge and expertise: TÜV SÜD has more than 150 years of experience in the inspection, certification and testing of products and systems in almost all areas of industry and everyday life, while IBM offers a unique combination of basic research, technological and IT operational expertise and consulting experience.

Dr Dirk Schlesinger"This development is an important step in the further digitisation of our company and our business," says Dr Dirk Schlesinger, Chief Digital Officer of TÜV SÜD. "By pooling our respective expertise, IBM and TÜV SÜD will develop and implement innovative digital services and business models even faster."

First project: TÜV SÜD Data Trust Center
The first project between the two companies, the TÜV SÜD Data Trust Center has already started. "As a 'trustee', the Data Trust Center will provide secure, neutral and non-discriminatory access to the data of modern and especially highly automated vehicles", says Patrick Fruth, CEO Division Mobility of TÜV SÜD. For this purpose, data from various vehicle manufacturers can be neutrally collected on the platform and made available to third parties such as service providers, insurers or authorities. A prerequisite for the use of the data by third parties is the release by vehicle owners or authorisation by vehicle manufacturers. The security and confidentiality of data storage, data processing and data transport as well as compliance with all data protection regulations is guaranteed by the use of Sealed Cloud technology from Uniscon, a member of the TÜV SÜD Group since August 2017. This technology ensures that even the platform operator has no access to unencrypted data that is stored and processed by users on its platform.

Stefan Lutz, Managing Director of IBM Germany and General Manager of IBM Global Business Services DACH, says of the partnership: "Together with the customer, we will provide further impetus for TÜV SÜD's digital transformation. In doing so, we will contribute our expertise, which will sustainably support digital conversion in all relevant areas. As part of our joint commitment, we are developing a concept for the establishment and operation of a TÜV SÜD Trust Center and providing consulting services for strategy and business model development as well as for the development of the IT architecture".
