JUNE 2020 – RELEVANT FOR: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS
The In force (since Apr 17, 2020)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) issued an amendment to the Regulation on Energy Efficiency Labelling and Standards on 17 April 2020.
As efficiency management testing agencies being banned to travel abroad to test products and issue test report, it is more challenging to import efficiency management machinery, equipment, or materials. This amendment is issued as a temporary measure so that test lab can issue a test report by reviewing the product testing data and documents submitted by the manufacturer or importer. Therefore, there is no need to travel abroad to carry out testing. Electrical appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, and bulbs/lamps, etc. are included in the scope of efficiency management machinery, equipment, or materials.
After the pandemic of the disease is over, test lab may investigate the information submitted by the manufacturer or importer, and if this data is found to be false, the issued test report may be repealed.
