What is the Canadian Electric Code?

Electrical products sold or imported in Canada must be certified as compliant with technical requirements established in the Canadian Electric Code. Manufacturers and importers may work with any certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to obtain certification that their products comply.

Electrical products that comply with applicable safety standards may display the certification mark of the SCC accredited certification body that performed the evaluation. Any certification body accredited by the SCC may conduct electrical safety testing for products within the scope of its accreditation and authorise the use of its mark in connection with the sale or importation of electrical products.
