SINGAPORE – TÜV SÜD PSB announced today that Richard Hong will succeed Chong Weng Hoe as Chief Executive Officer for TÜV SÜD PSB ASEAN.  He will assume full operational and management responsibilities of TÜV SÜD PSB with effect from 1 July 2013. 

Mr. Hong has over 18 years of experience in product certification and international compliance management for information technology equipment, home appliances, wireless products and audio-visual (AV) products. In his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer of TÜV SÜD PSB ASEAN, Mr. Hong was responsible for driving TÜV SÜD PSB’s businesses and operations in the ASEAN region including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Being both customer and employee-centric, Mr. Hong’s personal management style has led him to be the choice for the role of Chief Executive Officer. With strong knowledge and experience acquired within and outside of TÜV SÜD PSB, he was instrumental in spearheading the growth of the Industry Service business in ASEAN as well as building new competences in TÜV SÜD PSB. In addition to his contributions, he has been successful in developing first-class teams and building good customer relationships.

Mr. Hong was preceded by Mr. Chong Weng Hoe, Chief Executive Officer of TÜV SÜD PSB. Mr. Chong said, “We are fortunate to have someone of Richard’s caliber and experience step up to lead TÜV SÜD PSB. I am confident that with his commitment, drive, experience and the support from everyone at TÜV SÜD, Richard will be able to provide the leadership, vision and direction to lead the ASEAN region to greater growth and expansion.”

Following more than five years as Chief Executive Officer overseeing the business in ASEAN, Mr. Chong Weng Hoe will relinquish his appointment as Chief Executive Officer, TÜV SÜD PSB ASEAN from 1 July 2013. Under Mr. Chong’s leadership, the TÜV SÜD business in ASEAN has grown significantly with new laboratories - deepening footprints in the Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia markets. TÜV SÜD PSB has also seen an expansion in headcount of over 28% in these five years. Mr. Chong will continue to sit in the Board of TUV SUD PSB and provide advisory support to the organisation focusing on the development of TÜV SÜD PSB’s core business areas in ASEAN.

In addition, Mr. Chong Kam Tuck, Executive Vice President, Corporate Service, will also be appointed as the Chief Financial Officer, TÜV SÜD PSB ASEAN from 1 July 2013.
