LG DISPLAY´S OLED TESTING LABORATORY QUALIFIED BY TÜV SÜD

On July 3rd, TÜV SÜD, one of the world’s leading TIC companies, announced that LG Display had been awarded accreditation as qualified testing laboratory for OLED lighting panels. Using this qualification, the company plans to strengthen its rapidly growing OLED lighting business.

TÜV SÜD Product Service’s ACT program evaluates and authorizes a manufacturer’s ability to perform some parts of product safety testing for mutually agreed product categories and/or standards based on TÜV SÜD’s evaluation standards. LG Display’s testing laboratory is globally the first of its kind to be awarded ACT accreditation for OLED lighting panels testing in compliance with the IEC 62868 standard. The accreditation demonstrates that LG Display is able to verify product safety in compliance with international standards.

TÜV SÜD assessed LG Display’s testing laboratory with 10 test items in IEC 62868 standard including Internal Short Circuit Test, Fault Condition Test, and Thermal Stress Test.

“Accreditation by TÜV SÜD means that LG Display’s verification processes for the quality of OLED lighting panels are now internationally recognized,” said Jong-Wook Bae, Division Leader Fundamental Technology Research at LG Display. “In the future, we will put even greater effort into expanding the competitiveness of OLED lighting products.” LG Display anticipates that accreditation will allow it to provide safety-tested OLED lighting products to their customers in a much faster and much more efficient way.

“We are happy to award an ACT certificate to LG Display to support the company in their compliance with international standards in the field of OLEDs – the next-generation lighting technology,” said Volker Jesse, Head of Product Services and Sales at TÜV SÜD Korea.

In 2016, LG Display and TÜV SÜD cooperated over implementation of the flammability testing program for LG Display’s entire range of display products.
