TÜV SÜD certifies first FSC® project in Germany

The next German Garden Exhibition (Bundesgartenschau, BUGA) will take place in Heilbronn in 2019. The preparations are well under way. Creating space for experiencing nature on the banks of the River Neckar, the landscape and garden architects are building a wooden walkway system at the waterside. The company commissioned to build the wooden structure, Holzbau Reichel GmbH, uses wood from responsible forestry and has this fact certified by TÜV SÜD Czech.

TÜV SÜD Czech holds global accreditation for FSC® chain-of-custody (CoC) certification including FSC standard 40-006 for project certification. The wooden walkway at the German Garden Exhibition is the first project in Germany to be certified according to the FSC standard, and thus lays the cornerstone for further projects. The involved parties are nationwide pioneers in the field of sustainable building. TÜV SÜD has long-standing experience in chain-of-custody certification, collaborates closely with all stakeholders and is thus able to provide successful certification Services.

“We are very happy that we were able to carry out FSC project certification and thus contribute to the use of sustainable wood resources in building projects”, explains Astrid Schnell, Lead Auditor FSC at TÜV SÜD.
