Stefan Rentsch is the new head of the CEE Region

The global technical service provider, TÜV SÜD, has appointed Stefan Rentsch as CEO of its Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. An industrial engineer with extensive international experience, Rentsch will be responsible for further expanding TÜV SÜD’s activities in the region from his base in Vienna.

TÜV SÜD is a leading international technical services organisation operating in the fields of INDUSTRY, MOBILITY and CERTIFICATION. Over 24,000 employees continually improve technology, systems, and expertise at more than 1,000 locations in around 50 countries. The company pursues a strategy of international expansion. “The Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region plays a key role as part of this strategy because of its integration into the European Single Market and its increasing international links”, says Ishan Palit, Chief Operating Officer at TÜV SÜD AG. “As well as overseeing compliance with legal standards in a wide array of industries, we provide services that build trust in technical innovations such as Industry 4.0 – the Fourth Industrial Revolution, autonomous driving and renewable energy sources.”

TÜV SÜD’s activities in the CEE region primarily focus on medium-sized enterprises. “Our objective is to provide proactive support for companies in this category in expanding their regional and international operations”, explains Stefan Rentsch. “To achieve this, we will continuously grow our portfolio of services in the CEE region.” TÜV SÜD will prioritise areas including expansion of the company’s industry business throughout the region, development of its activities and market position in Poland, and reinforcement and expansion of the automotive excellence cluster it has already established in the Czech Republic. “We are already the leader in front and side impact simulations, and are continuously advancing our expertise in the field of autonomous driving”, notes Rentsch. In Turkey TÜV SÜD owns one-third of TÜVTÜRK, a joint venture performing periodic vehicle inspections. “We already test over 9 million vehicles a year in Turkey”, stresses Rentsch. The new CEO of CEE is also planning to drive digitisation and use TÜV SÜD’s global network to the full to provide support for organisations such as Asian companies which seek to establish and expand business activities in the region.

Stefan Rentsch studied mechanical engineering at the universities of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe and industrial engineering at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He held executive positions at various consulting companies before joining TÜV SÜD AG in Munich in 2007 as Senior Project Manager Mergers & Acquisitions. Between 2008 and 2010, he represented TÜV SÜD’s interests as a member of the Supervisory Board of ATISAE in Spain. Appointed Head of E-Mobility in April 2010, he developed TÜV SÜD´s strategy for testing and inspection of energy storage for electric vehicles. In December he became CEO of the newly founded TÜV SÜD Battery Testing GmbH. Stefan Rentsch was appointed CEO of the Korea Region in May 2013 and embarked on activities including expanding testing and other services for Korean industrial companies, restructuring services for the Korean automotive industry, and establishing new business areas including E-Mobility, Renewable Energy Systems and Industry 4.0. His efforts also enabled TÜV SÜD to carve out a position as a leading testing and process partner for the Korean medical device industry.
