Widespread adoption of electric vehicles can only be achieved when there is safe, reliable and convenient charging infrastructure in place. Electric vehicle charging infrastructure and connectors are developed based on new technologies that require extensive testing and certification to relevant standards by an independent party. Beyond determining safety and quality, testing helps manufacturers improve on existing designs.
TÜV SÜD test for electrical, environmental (including EMC) and functional safety, providing the results of each test so that any issues can be addressed efficiently. Upon completion of all tests, you will receive a comprehensive technical report and, if all test criteria are met, we award certification to the product.
TR25:2016 – the national electric vehicle (EV) charging standard guides the safety requirements of EV charging systems and infrastructure across Singapore. The EV charging infrastructure in Singapore includes the Type 2 AC and Combo-2 DC charging systems under the National Public Charging Standards (NPCS). The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Economic Development Board (EDB) – the co-chairs of the Electro-mobility Singapore (EMS) taskforce – are the governing authorities for these standards.
As a part of Singapore Green Plan 2030, the Government has announced its commitment to create a sustainable transportation system throughout the country with the help of a comprehensive EV Roadmap. To support these efforts, LTA and EMA has included CHAdeMO – a fast charging method for EV batteries – as Optional Public Charging Standards (OPCS) in March 2020. This inclusion will facilitate the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, offering a wider range of public EV charging options to the users, and to promote broader adoption of electric vehicles across Singapore.
These standards – the TR25:2016, the NPCS, and the OPCS – are in place to promote EV adoption in Singapore and ensure the safety, reliability, and convenience of EV charging infrastructure in Singapore.
