Delivering real business benefits across key segments
TÜV SÜD’s iAM Production Site Certification supports industrial grade additive manufacturing (AM) centres to successfully navigate the complexity of delivering market-leading services.
AM techniques and underlying 3D printing technologies are advancing rapidly. Increasingly used for manufacturing purposes, the requirement for reproducibility and reliability presents a completely new challenge for the entire industry. Stakeholders also have high expectations of how this new technology can contribute to serial production innovations, which makes a high quality of service imperative.
As AM enables state-of-the-art designs, significantly shorter supply chains and product consistency, nothing must be allowed to impact production. Alongside these challenges, AM also demands compliance with numerous international and country-specific standards and requirements.
The iAM Production Site Certification verifies that your site meets the criteria for serial production, streamlines corporate structures, and professionalises your business processes. It delivers you significant competitive advantage by:
AM technologies and methods are highly complex. TÜV SÜD’s iAM Production Site certification supports AM centres to futureproof their business. Aligning your AM activities with the robust framework of our certification scheme also helps to strengthen market confidence in your products and services, as TÜV SÜD is the trusted manufacturing partner for various OEM’s and the railway industry.
TÜV SÜD’s global network of multi-disciplinary experts provides end-to-end AM support. Our extensive industry experience, and leadership of standardisation projects, such as DIN SPEC 17071 and ISO/ASTM 52920, means that we contribute directly to the safe and successful establishment of AM processes on a global scale. This certification scheme therefore promotes the implementation of all necessary standards in AM.
TÜV SÜD’s iAM Production Site Certification covers every requirement that an AM centre should fulfil, from processes to personnel and technology. It also accounts to all AM technologies defined as DIN EN ISO/ASTM 52900:2017, including but not limited to PBF, MEX, VPP & DED.
During TÜV SÜD’s assessment, our AM industry experts will audit your AM production side. Focusing on the core aspects of your corporate processes, we verify compliance with the applicable standards and industry practices, from both strategic and operational perspectives. We also check associated periphery equipment, such as blast and mixing machines, unpacking stations and further finishing methods.
TÜV SÜD’s iAM Production Site Certification Mark generates visibility, differentiates you in the AM market and future proofs your business against evolving requirements. The certification marks and certificates issued by TÜV SÜD are also excellent marketing tools, as they allow you to promote your AM capabilities with confidence.
The iAM Production Site certification mark is awarded to companies that have successfully undergone our certification scheme. Valid for three years, continued conformity is subsequently verified in an annual one-day surveillance audit. You can be assured that your certification complies with the most up to date AM global requirements, as our scheme is based on universally applicable quality assurance standards. As soon as these standards are published, they will be implemented within the course of TÜV SÜD’s regular surveillance audits.
Our expert teams have decades of manufacturing experience and are strongly contributing to the development of international standardisation. Within the ISO/ASTM TC 261 – Additive Manufacturing, we are in charge of the convener role for the JG 75 Conformity Assessment. These are the upcoming standards:
ISO/ASTM WD 52920 additive manufacturing – qualification principles – Quality requirements for industrial additive manufacturing sites (Release Forecast CD 2Q2021)
