Energy certification

An energy certificate from TÜV SÜD ensure that your energy infrastructure demonstrates quality, sustainability and energy friendliness. Our experts support, assess and certify energy suppliers through the following two energy industry certifications.

Ecopower certification

This service from TÜV SÜD caters to suppliers who offer their customers energy from renewable sources and/or green energy. It functions as a renewable energy certificate, verifying that the power is truly from renewable and/or green sources.

Proof of origin

Not all renewable or green energy producers of electricity offer their electric power as a special green electricity product. Many producers simply feed their electricity into the grid, where it becomes part of the normal power mix. Nevertheless, you still aim to demonstrate to your business and trading partners that you produce and supply green electricity. This service from TÜV SÜD helps you do that.

For the ecopower renewable energy certificate, TÜV SÜD verifies compliance with criteria and supplier statements. We do this from the source of energy (generation/production) to its delivery (supply to the end-consumer). We also offer certifications of trading of renewable energies. 

For the proof of origin energy industry certification, we verify the sources of electricity and certify that the sources are renewable or green with proof of origin. Numerous countries recognise our certification/proof of origin. Similarly, we also issue proof of origin as defined in the revised Energy from Renewable Sources Act.

For ecopower certification, we offer the following standards:  

Product EE01: Certification of electricity products from renewable energy sources with support component 
Energy carriers: 100% of the energy supplied is from renewable sources. At least 30% of the energy supplied is generated in new power stations. Suppliers use price surcharges to build new renewable sources.  

Product EE02: Certification of electricity products from renewable energy sources with simultaneous generation and supply 
Energy carriers: 100% renewable sources of energy. Simultaneous generation and consumption in quarter-hour metering. Suppliers use price surcharges to expand renewable sources of energy. 

Trading EE: Trading of renewable energies 
Certification of energy trading from renewable sources including green hydrogen. Certification of the offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions in the supply of electricity and natural gas. The certification of the Greenbook-Managements assures the buyer that the accounting system used is reliable and traceable. 

Accounting EE: Accounting of renewable energies 
Certification of Accounting Systems for Energy from Renewable Sources  

QED: Qualified Electricity Disclosure 
Certification of the mix disclosure of electricity
