Classification and labelling of hazardous substances

WHAT IS CLP REGULATION?

The EU CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 is responsible for the classification and labelling of substances and mixtures, following the UN GHS standard. Its goal is to provide information about the hazards to the human health and to the environment of these substances and mixtures.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU WITH THE CLP REGULATION?

At TÜV SÜD, we support the industry in identifying the hazards of substances and mixtures before their sale. We also assist in labelling in accordance with the Regulation so that both workers and consumers are aware of potential risks and how to use these products safely. Our services include:

  • Classification of substances and mixtures.
  • Labelling and packaging in compliance with the Regulation.
  • Poison Centre Notification (PCN): We carry out the necessary notifications to the relevant authorities in each country when a mixture wants to be placed on the market and is classified according to CLP (as per Article 45 of the CLP Regulation). Additionally, we offer the option of voluntary notifications and the inclusion of the national Poison Center's phone number as an emergency contact on the Safety Data Sheet.
