On 14th Nov 2019, TÜV SÜD Changzhou New Energy Vehicle Testing Laboratory was officially opened to boost the development of Chinese new energy vehicle industry, improve the quality of Chinese new energy vehicle EV battery, and better protect the driving safety of consumers.
The establishment of the laboratory aims to meet the needs of new energy vehicle enterprises, EV battery and battery components production in the Yangtze River Delta and nationwide, as well as the research and development testing, quality assessment and export certification of enterprises, comprehensively guarantee the safety of EV battery, and assist in regulating market order.
Prof. Axel Stepken, Chairman of Board of TÜV SÜD Management, Mr. Holger Lindner, CEO of Consumer Product Service, Mr. Dirk von Wahl, CEO of TÜV SÜD North Asia, Mr. Hailiang Xu, Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Changzhou New Energy Vehicle Testing Laboratory, and Changzhou Government representatives have attended the opening ceremony.
Nowadays, the development of Chinese EV battery industry is about to enter a new stage of rapid development. The safe, long-life and high-performance energy EV battery will become the mainstream of industrial demand, and the demand of EV battery inspection will continue to grow.
To meet the growing demand of EV battery quality testing and R&D testing, ensure the safety of EV battery in an overall way, TÜV SÜD strives to build Changzhou new energy vehicle testing laboratory and provides professional one-stop testing and certification services for new energy vehicle manufacturers.
The laboratory covers an area of 6,000 square meters, equipped with advanced large-scale vibration table, safety testing and explosion-proof room, high-precision and high-power charging and discharging devices, air purification and other facilities as well as complete fire-fighting facilities.
The laboratory is mainly divided into three testing areas:
Its testing capability covers EV battery unit, module, pack (battery pack) and various products at system level, which can meet several international standards and Chinese national standards.
As one of the laboratories in China that has set up an EV battery safety testing room with scientific design, perfect configuration and safety and environmental protection, the laboratory can cover high-power battery system, and the single channel of imported high-precision charging and discharging equipment can meet the test requirements of 1200V/1200A battery pack. Based on the understanding of "V-model" product development, TÜV SÜD Changzhou new energy vehicle testing laboratory implements supplementary construction per German technical requirements, comprehensively supports customized projects required by industry and enterprise research and development, and conducts comprehensive EV battery test evaluation and analysis covering the full life cycle.
The newly opened Changzhou New Energy Vehicle Testing Laboratory is the world's third laboratory of TÜV SÜD which covering monomer, module and system full test project (safety, environment, performance and abuse) after Germany and Canada. It is also the largest invested power battery testing base of TÜV SÜD in the world. In the future, TÜV SÜD will continue to explore the Chinese market, promote the comprehensive development plan of Chinese new energy vehicle testing laboratory, assist Chinse new energy vehicle enterprises improve their competitiveness domestic and overseas, improve the safety and performance of the EV battery, and guarantee the safe driving of more consumers.
