Your New Job

  • Autonomous Driving with PEGASUS

    Leuchtturmprojekte_03

Autonomous vehicles are heading for our roads, so new quality standards and methods must be developed to approve and authorise their safety. This is what Germany’s project PEGASUS stood for: "Project to Establish Generally Accepted quality criteria, tools and methods as well as Scenarios and Situations for the approval of highly automated driving functions".

TÜV SÜD, as the only testing organisation on the project, aimed to develop a procedure for testing automated driving functions to enable the rapid introduction of automated driving for everyday use from 2016 to 2019.

We had a number of primary goals. Firstly, we wanted to define a uniform procedure for testing and validating automated vehicle systems in simulation, on proving grounds and in real world conditions. TÜV SÜD was able to develop a continuous and flexible testing tool chain to make automated driving safe and secure, among other things.

In line with the National plan to phase out all Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) in Singapore by 2040, we are collaborating with ComfortDelGro Engineering to develop a training programme to upskill technicians in the automotive industry from repair and maintenance of ICE to the safe handling of Hybrid and Electric vehicles.
With this new programme, we can help accelerate the transition to electric vehicles in Singapore. Check out our automotive training courses here.

  • Our New Mobility Centre in Germany

    Leuchtturmprojekte_02

After two years of construction and an investment of over 20 million euros, we opened our new Mobility and Drive Centre in Heimsheim, Germany on 29th September 2020. The new, state-of-the-art emissions-testing site is the largest independent laboratory of its kind in Europe, and with it, we doubled our testing capacity for tomorrow's vehicles.

Our new testing facility provides a full range of emissions tests for all types of powertrains, such as combustion engines, electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles. We also do type approval according to international standards and regulations. With our global laboratory network for emissions tests, we are well prepared to support the future of mobility and accelerate the homologation process for vehicles in international markets.

At this new facility, we can test all vehicles in terms of emissions and environmental capability, from diesel, to petrol, to hybrid, to pure electric. In our laboratory we are able to conduct various tests along the entire vehicle life cycle – from development to certification and verification during use, even under temperatures of -7°C. This means we offer car manufacturers a single point of contact and deliver all test results centrally in Heimsheim, speeding up the vehicle homologation process and global market access. We can even perform a special test level for commercial vehicles and prototype areas according to TISAX regulation.
