Combustible dusts and flammable gases, mists or vapours can all contribute to potentially explosive atmospheres in the workplace. For this reason, equipment and systems used in these types of environment must conform to specific safety requirements. These regulations apply to all explosion-proof equipment and systems including safety, control and regulation devices, and protective components, equipment and systems.
All products used in hazardous locations or explosion protected products used in China will be mandated by law to comply to the China Compulsory Certification (CCC). CCC is a mandatory conformity assessment system for products imported and sold in China.
CCC was first implemented in 2002 by the China Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) to ensure standardisation of product quality and safety. This certification program will be expanded to cover explosion protected products effective from October 1, 2020 onwards.
The new regulation requires all explosion protected products sold in China to be CCC certified, irrespective of where the products were manufactured, imported products are inspected by customs authorities for CCC compliance and proper labelling, for which fines and detainment of goods could apply in the case of non-compliance.
