Smart solutions for the future of rail

TÜV SÜD will showcase its portfolio at the Asia Pacific Rail exhibition from 20 to 21 March 2018. As associate sponsor, the experts of the Business Unit Rail will be represented at booth M01. TÜV SÜD's presence focuses on smart rail safety solutions including independent safety assessments, virtual test methods, rail automation solutions, predictive analysis (with the help of AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber security. In an expert presentation also a systematic approach to ensure safe and reliable rail energy systems will be showcased.

“As digitalisation and connectivity increase, so do the required standards of functional safety and security for rail systems“, says Klaus Bosch, Business Unit Manager Rail. “In addition to the need for innovative and intelligent rail solutions, challenges include integration of the growing share of energy from renewable sources into the railway grid and ensuring safe and secure rail energy systems.” This integration will require further investments in infrastructure and software solutions in the coming years. Automatic train control systems, such as the communication-based train control (CBTC), and new power sources give rise to new IT risks for the network. Using a current project as an example, at Asia Pacific Rail TÜV SÜD presents how such risks can be considered and analysed in rail energy projects with the help of a software tool, enabling the development of efficient and customised solutions. Asia Pacific Rail is Asia's leading rail event, showcasing products, solutions and services for the future of rail. This year, the organisers expect over 2,000 professional trade visitors.
