Complimentary Webinar: SASO - New Process Overview through Testing and Certification

Industry focus: Textiles, Apparel, leather and footwear

Industry focus: Textiles, Apparel, leather and footwear

SASO stands for the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization. It is a technical government body in Saudi Arabia, established in 1972, responsible for regulating and supervising standardization, metrology, and quality activities related to all products prepared for sale in the Saudi Kingdom. The implementation of SALEEM and SABER will apply to all textile and clothing products that are within the scope of the Technical Regulation of Textile Products.

  • Quality and Safety Standards: SASO ensures that imported goods meet specific quality and safety standards. Without a SASO Certificate of Conformity (CoC), goods cannot clear customs in Saudi Arabia. This certificate acts as a passport for the items, certifying that they have been successfully tested and inspected to meet the country’s standards.
  • Obtaining a SASO CoC: For the process for obtaining a SASO CoC companies need to provide a signed and stamped commercial invoice, a certificate of origin, and other relevant documentation. Regular exporters may consider registering their products with the agency to expedite the process.
  • Customs Inspection: Even with a SASO CoC, customs officials reserve the right to administer additional inspections and tests once the goods arrive in Saudi Arabia.
  • SASO and Marketing Guidelines: SASO establishes labeling and marketing guidelines for goods in the Saudi market. The Ministry of Commerce implements these guidelines through inspection and test laboratories at ports of entry.

To navigate through these updates and regulations, our expert practitioner will delve into key aspects and extend his insights through a complimentary webinar, covering an elaborate account of the new developments & requirements of the SALEEM and SABER processes and further highlight how TÜV SÜD can support importers and brands to ease their journey.
