SALEEM program is concerned with the safety of products in the Saudi market. SALEEM in Arabic indicates that the product is safe, secure and free of flaws that may directly or indirectly harm individuals, society or environment. The new Saudi product safety program, which replaces the current product certification program where products are classified as per the risk level into regulated and non-regulated products. Based on the severity and risk of a product, SASO have issued several technical regulations for specified products. The technical regulations are listing the requirements and certification schemes for each product category.

SABER is the online portal where importers, notifies bodies and Saudi Customs are involved in certificate issuance for both Product and Shipment certificates. The certificates are used to clear the consignments from the customs. Also, invoice is issued in the SABER portal.

Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA)

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government introduced mandatory regulatory control measures in 2015 for electrical and mechanical safety, energy efficiency, and environmental requirements under a national program called the Emirates Conformity Assessment System (ECAS).

In 2016, the UAE Government announced, through Cabinet Resolution No. 35 that the ECAS program would be outsourced to third-party Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABS) to conduct the conformity assessment process and issue product safety certification.

Suppliers / traders / importers and local manufacturers must register the products and obtain Certificate of Conformity prior in order to sell inside the UAE.
