The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO) have implemented the SALEEM by launching the SABER platform for online Certification for Exports to Saudi Arabia.

SALEEM program is concerned with the safety of products in the Saudi market. SALEEM in Arabic indicates that the product is safe, secure and free of flaws that may directly or indirectly harm individuals, society or the environment. The new Saudi product safety program replaces the current product certification program, where products are classified into regulated and non-regulated products as per the risk level.

Based on the severity and risk, SASO has issued several technical guidelines for specified products. The technical regulations list the requirements and certification schemes for each product category. The SASO certification webinar and the ESMA (ECAS) certification webinar will take you through the regulations of the SALEEM program. SABER is the online portal where importers, notifies bodies and Saudi Customs are involved in certificate issuance for both Product and Shipment certificates. The certificates are used to clear the consignments from the customs. Also, invoices are issued in the SABER portal.

Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA)

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government introduced mandatory regulatory control measures in 2015 for electrical and mechanical safety, energy efficiency, and environmental requirements under a national program called the Emirates Conformity Assessment System (ECAS).

In 2016 through Cabinet Resolution No. 35, the UAE Government announced that the ECAS program would be outsourced to third-party Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABS) to conduct the conformity assessment process and issue product safety certification.

Suppliers/traders/importers and local manufacturers must register the products and obtain a Certificate of Conformity before selling inside the UAE. The ESMA (ECAS) certification webinar will help you understand the compliance requirements.
