Focus on offshore wind energy in the North and Baltic Seas and on safety of installations on land

TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH has opened a new location in Rostock, further strengthening its presence in the north of Germany. The new location will focus on providing services for the offshore wind energy industry in the North and Baltic Seas and on safety of steam and pressure plants and equipment such as gas distribution networks and power stations.

TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH supplies engineering, testing, inspection and certification (TIC) services for the safety, cost-efficiency and sustainability of systems, infrastructure installations and buildings. With over 2,500 employees at 31 locations throughout Germany, the company takes care of all aspects of safe and reliable operation, from feasibility studies and planning, construction and operation to modernisation and eventual decommissioning and dismantling. In addition, its experts prepare impartial assessments and provide a robust basis for customers’ decision-making.

TÜV SÜD Industrie Service’s new location in Rostock will further strengthen its profile in the north of Germany. “Our team will initially comprise nine experts to oversee the safety of systems and installations in the region on behalf of our customers”, explains David Schott, Regional Manager North-East at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service. “Our presence on the Baltic Sea will strengthen the effectiveness of our operations in offshore wind energy and complement the services provided by our Hamburg-based Offshore Wind Energy department.” But the TÜV SÜD experts will also address the safety of land-based plants and installations, initially focusing on steam and pressure technology equipment such as gas distribution networks and power stations.

David Schott anticipates that the activities of the Rostock team will rapidly expand in step with the continued growth of offshore wind energy in the North and Baltic Seas, the increasing popularity of green hydrogen as a replacement for fossil energy carriers and the dynamic economic development of the region as a whole: “From our perspective, the main growth market is electrical and building engineering, where there is still significant untapped potential in areas such as the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.”
