Energy experts stressed the need for ensuring efficient power plants and conservation of energy as a strategy to meet the growing demand for electricity as well as connect people having no access to power at present.
“Efficiency is the key to solving power shortage,” said Niranjan Nadkarni, chief executive of TÜV SÜD South Asia, at a meeting in Dhaka recently. “Systemic efficiency, capacity utilization and adequate financing can go a long way in further growing electricity penetration.”
Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, energy adviser to the Prime Minister, has also emphasized on conservation in addition to efficiency for safe future. He said the government is working relentlessly to support the industry by ensuring quality energy and power in order to achieve the goal of becoming the Middle Income Country by the year 2030.
