Course Overview

This training programme provides an essential introduction to the AIAG CQI-9 Heat Treat System Assessment (HTSA) version 4, a crucial standard in the automotive industry for managing and improving heat treatment processes. Designed for beginners, the course covers the purpose, scope, and benefits of CQI-9, exposure to key terminology, and an overview of auditing and assessment requirements including job audits and process tables.

Participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to integrate CQI-9 requirements into their organisation’s existing management systems, supporting continual improvement, defect prevention, and compliance with customer-specific requirements as mandated under IATF 16949:2016. 

What Will You Learn? 

The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) first published CQI-9 in 2006, with subsequent versions released in 2007, 2011, and the latest Heat Treat System Assessment (HTSA) version 4 in June 2020. CQI-9 version 4 is now a mandatory customer-specific requirement for many organisations certified to IATF 16949:2016, wherever the heat treatment process forms part of their manufacturing procedures. 

The AIAG CQI-9 standard aims to establish an effective heat treatment management system that supports continuous improvement, focuses on defect prevention, and reduces variation and waste throughout the supply chain. Compliance with CQI-9 is increasingly mandated by OEMs, making this training essential for relevant personnel.

Examination & Certification 

The course concludes with an online post-test comprising 20 multiple-choice questions, each with a single correct answer. Participants must score at least 60% to pass. The test duration is 40 minutes and is open book and open notes. 

Successful candidates will receive a course completion certificate. Those not meeting the pass mark will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
