The certification mark applies to electrical and electronic equipment that falls under the scope of the WEEE Directive Directive No 2012/19/EU. The Directive applies to various equipment, including large and small household appliances, IT and telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, lamps, electrical and electronic tools, toys, sports and leisure equipment, automatic dispensers, electrical light bulbs and lamps in households.
The certification mark is based on the WEEE Directive No 2012/19/EU of the European parliament and the council of 4 July 2012. WEEE is short for “waste of electrical and electronic equipment".
The certification mark is issued on a voluntary basis for electronic equipment classified in Annex I of Council Directive 2012/19/EU on waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The design of the product complies with the goals and limitations as defined in the directive in a way that the requirements with regard to prevention of WEEE, reuse, recycling and recovery are fulfilled.
