CLIENT NAME: South Lanarkshire Council

Industry: Real Estate

Project Value: £5-£15 million

Construction dates: 2010 - 2015

Services provided:MEP, Sustainability & Utilities

Achievement:The schools achieved a minimum of EPC rating B+ and BREEAM Very Good.
TÜV SÜD have delivered the South Lanarkshire Schools Frameworking utilising 3D modelling.

TÜV SÜD were employed on two different phases of this framework to deliver a total of 21 primary schools, completing the last in 2015. The schools have ranged in size and type and include such areas as swimming pools, special needs, joint campus schools and community facilities.

All schools have been delivered to date with either a Good or Very Good BREEAM rating and at least a ‘B’ EPC energy rating. Three schools to date have been delivered with an ‘A’ EPC rating.

Across all schools, sustainability has been key with various renewable technologies such as CHP, ground source, wind turbines, PV and biomass being used.
Throughout the length of the framework we have worked with Holmes Miller Architects to drive the building services solutions with the view of encompassing efficiency into the framework.

We have recently as a team taken this one step further by developing a BIM model for each school using Revit. This has involved an increased emphasis upon team working and it has been agreed that Holmes Miller and TÜV SÜD will use Revit to create a BIM model on all projects going forward.
