TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory hosted a delegation of thirty visitors from Bavaria, Germany on Monday. Dr Martin Hanton, Director, Green Energy and Sustainability, Chris Guy, CEO of TÜV SÜD UK, and Reiner Block, CEO, TÜV SÜD Industry Service, welcomed the delegates which included Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.
The delegation were provided with tours of the state-of-the-art hydrogen facilities at TÜV SÜD’s East Kilbride site, which include a mobile (vehicle) based facility for testing Hydrogen Refuelling Stations and a facility for testing domestic hydrogen gas meters. They also discussed the wider green energy solutions offered by the company, such as green hydrogen certification, which together with the testing facilities are seen as critical enablers in supporting Governments and industry to move faster towards adopting clean fuels and progressing net zero ambitions.
Martin Hanton enjoyed the visit saying:
“We were delighted to welcome Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, and a party of thirty delegates from the Bavarian Government and Bavarian companies involved with hydrogen, to TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory to see our world-class hydrogen facilities. It was a great opportunity to show them the progress TÜV SÜD is making with hydrogen and the ever-increasing range of hydrogen-related services we offer from inspection to testing to training.”
Reiner Block spoke about TÜV SÜD's commitment to supporting governments and businesses transition to clean hydrogen:
"TÜV SÜD has a strong relationship with the Bavarian and Scottish governments. We support their strategies for the development of clean hydrogen with our expertise along the whole supply chain and for all applications in the UK, Germany and globally. This is essential for the decarbonisation of energy, industry and transport."
The visit was organised by the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association.
