LMU appoints Dr. Matthias J. Rapp as honorary professor

Ludwig Maximilian University Munich (LMU) has a new honorary university lecturer: Dr Matthias J. Rapp, Chief Financial Officer of TÜV SÜD AG, has been appointed honorary professor in summer 2021.

Matthias J. Rapp has been on the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG since 2013, responsible for Finance and Controlling. The company generated sales of €2.5 billion in 2020 and employs around 25,000 people worldwide. TÜV SÜD is a leading service provider for safety and sustainability solutions and specialises in testing, certification, auditing and consulting services.

Rapp zum HonorarprofessorSince 2014, Dr Rapp has been a lecturer at the LMU and gives lectures at the Institute for Accounting and Control (Munich School of Management) headed by Prof. Dr Christian Hofmann. The thematic focus of his lectures is 'Applied Financial Management' and combines business theory with modern financial instruments as well as corporate practice of a globally active group.

The group of LMU honorary professors includes first-rate experts from industry and business, renowned academics and well-known entrepreneurs. They support the professorial body and are appointed for this purpose after a rigorous selection process.

On the biographical background of Prof. Dr. Matthias J. Rapp:
Matthias J. Rapp was born in 1967 in Schramberg/Black Forest, Germany. He studied business administration at WHU Koblenz, ESC Lyon and Manchester Business School; from 1992 to 1995 he completed his doctorate supervised by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Horst Albach at WHU Koblenz.

Matthias J. Rapp started his professional career with the global management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG). In 1997, he moved to industry and has since worked for several renowned companies as Chief Financial Officer, most recently as Chief Financial Officer for the automotive supplier Webasto SE. With effect from August 2013, Matthias J. Rapp was appointed to the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG, responsible for Finance and Controlling.
