TÜV SÜD’s accreditation body, TÜV SÜD BABT, is accredited by UKAS and appointed as a UK Market Conformity Assessment Body (UK Approved Body) by the UK Department for Businesses, Energy & Industrial Strategy.
UKCA marking is something that should be at the forefront of many people’s minds in the UK. As far as manufacturers and users of machinery are concerned, the basis of compliance will not vary greatly from what was in place for CE marking and compliance with Directives. Currently, CE marking is still acceptable due to the transition period in place until the end of the year unless the item in question is new to the market and requires the involvement of an independent certification body.
Another consideration for a GB manufacturer wanting to self-certify to CE is that they may need to appoint an authorised representative who is located in the EU for their CE declaration to be valid. For this reason, we would encourage the application of UKCA marking for any new machines or assemblies for the GB market, the UK government are advising that manufacturers complete the transition to UKCA marking as soon as possible.
TÜV SÜD BABT can offer immediate UKAS accredited UKCA certification work for Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008. With our network of EU Notified Bodies and TÜV SÜD BABT we can offer a truly one stop CE and UKCA certification service for machinery manufacturers.
