UK Marine Equipment Directive Appointed Notified Bodies remain appointed to issue MED certificates under the 2014/90/EU Directive until the end of the transition period.
TÜV SÜD BABT UNLIMITED is monitoring the future relationship discussions between the UK and the EU. In preparation of possible eventualities, TÜV SÜD BABT UNLIMITED is developing appropriate services for the UK market access.
TÜV SÜD Danmark has acquired EU Notified Body Appointment (NB2443) to ensure continued support to clients for EU Marine Equipment Directive approvals whatever the outcome of EU/UK trade discussions.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency released MSN 1874 Amendment 3 on 31 January 2020. Notified Bodies cannot issue UK Approvals to MSN 1874 Amendment 3 during the transition period ending on the 31st of December 2020.
If no mutual acceptance of certification is established between the UK/EU during the future relationship discussions as of the 1st January 2021, TUV SUD BABT UNLIMITED will be automatically appointed as a UK Approved Body to issue certification to MSN 1874 Amendment 3, enabling Marine clients to apply the UK mark.
TÜV SÜD BABT UNLIMITED continues to be listed as a UK Nominated Body as per MSN 1874 Amendment 3 Part II for equipment, which falls outside of the scope of the MED.
