TÜV SÜD’s new accreditation enables continuation of CE certification post brexit

TÜV SÜD received accreditation from DANAK (Danish accreditation authority) on the 14th August 2019 for four European directives (Marine Equipment Directive, Radio Equipment Directive, EMC Directive & Machinery Directive).

The designation authorities in Denmark are progressing the notification process to list the appointments to the four legislations on the NANDO website for notified Body TÜV SÜD Denmark (notified body number 2443).

The scope of the appointments is identical to those already held by the notified body TUV SUD BABT (notified body number 0168), accredited by UKAS for the four legislations.

Acquiring the accreditations is part of TÜV SÜD commitment to ensure that clients may continue to maintain their products CE certification through TÜV SÜD and acquire new certification no matter what occurs in the upcoming weeks and months with the UK political situation of BREXIT.

The designations on the NANDO website are expected imminently, at that date TÜV SÜD can issue product certification to the four directives. TÜV SÜD will work with currently certified clients to ensure their ability to distribute products within the European market is maintained.

TÜV SÜD will be in contact with our clients in the coming weeks to address their individual certification needs for market entry into the European union, and in the occurrence the UK leaves the European union without a transitional arrangement market entry to the UK

Processes and procedures used by TÜV SÜD to issue certification through either notified bodies are identical to ensure a seamless experience for maintaining or acquiring product certification. The TÜV SÜD network currently supporting clients for the certification needs will remain unchanged.

This accreditation appointment ensures that, the occurrence of the UK leaving the European union without a transitional arrangement, where BABT cease to be a EU notified body and become a UK Approved Body with the scope to issue certification against the four UK statutory instruments (RSI (Radio), MEDSI (Marine), ESI (EMC) and MACSI (Machinery)) which will become the UK market entry requirements for the CE directive BABT are currently appointed for. TÜV SÜD will be able to issue dual certification for both CE and UKCA for all four legislations.

Once the listings on the NANDO website occurs TÜV SÜD will work with clients to address their certification needs for market entry into the European union and in the occurrence of the UK leaving the European union without a transitional arrangement, market entry to the UK.
