I have been working with TÜV SÜD for the past 12 years and have always found them to be very professional, helpful and proactive in all aspects of their work. The consultants are all very approachable and always happy to help out. TÜV SÜD have helped with the design, specification, procurement and delivery of replacement lifts in various buildings at the University, with most recent the lifts in Psychology and Biology E which were both handed over within the project time frame with little snags, this can only be accountable to Paul Babington’s professional Management of the project. I have recently engaged TÜV SÜD services for providing maintenance management for the servicing of our lifts. This has seen the University save thousands of pounds, plus many hours of my time from them reviewing quotes, comparing against what is out there on the market and providing alternate quotations. Paul Babington has also assisted me with re-configuring our auto dialler system and audited our Evacuation lift policy from which we found many holes/shortfalls in our policies. Without Paul’s assistance this would not have been possible. Overall I am more than happy with the standard of service provided by and would not hesitate in recommending them.

Lift consultants are independent experts acting on behalf of clients by providing specialist help and advice on issues such as planning and design of new lifts, refurbishment of existing lifts, asset management, lift and escalator maintenance, health and safety, legal responsibilities and compliance.
    • What is the difference between a lift consultant and a lift contractor?

The main difference is that a lift consultant is independent and is not selling lifts or other products. Whereas a lift contractor is there to sell you a product or maintenance service and so their advice might focus on the products they can sell rather than what is best for the client.

    • How often should a lift be checked?

According to the Health and Safety Executive:

“Unless there is an 'examination scheme' specifying other intervals, thorough examinations should be conducted every:

      • 6 months, for lifting equipment and any associated accessories used to lift people
      • 6 months, for all lifting accessories
      • 12 months, for all other lifting equipment.”
