He has a “Doctor of Philosophy in multiphase flows” and more than 150 publications and articles. He has several patents in the multiphase environment, from optical and fluid properties measurements to sampling and nuclear techniques of measurements and numerous awards. His main domains of expertise include multiphase and wet gas flow metering, sampling, fluid properties, allocation, single and uncertainty measurements. He is focusing on bunkering business over the last years.
"Flow measurement is essential in all activities in the oil and gas industry for optimisation, flow assurance, reservoir management, and fiscal allocation to say the least. This event is the unique place to meet the experts in flow measurement from around the world, with this year the extension of the topics of discussion to the low carbon energy and downstream businesses.”
Having worked at Solartron ISA for over 25 years, originally in the engineering team I transitioned to sales in the early 90’s. This coincided with the developments of marginal fields in the UK North Sea and the “new” requirement to allocate wet gas. My close involvement in early applications led to appointment as Product & Marketing Manager, contributing to the development and supply of Solartron ISA’s wellhead flow metering products around the world. I have been Sales Director since 2008 and remain actively involved in the continued evolution of multiphase, wet gas and subsea products.
"There is no better event to learn about new technology, operational experiences and network with like-minded engineers from across the flow measurement industry"
Craig Marshall has been working in the area of flow measurement for over 10 years. Since starting his career, he has worked as a graduate engineer, flow measurement engineer and technical consultant. Craig has specialist knowledge in all aspects of flow measurement including system design, measurement technology, flow measurement standards and uncertainty. As Product Development Director at McMenon, his main responsibilities include improving on current market offerings as well as developing new products based on end user needs. Craig is currently the chair of a British Standards committee overseeing flow measurement standards.
"The North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop is a great place to meet with flow measurement colleagues from around the world to discuss technical issues and the latest solutions. I have always found it extremely useful."
Graduated with B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics from the University of Strathclyde, 1987. Gained experience in operating UK national standard gas flow facility at NEL (1987-93). In 1993, moved to Aberdeen to become a Petroleum Measurement Inspector with what was then DTI. Spent 6 years as an offshore Petroleum Measurement Inspector. Since 1999, responsible for developing UK policy in fiscal oil and gas measurement with DTI and its successor organisations (BERR, DECC and now OGA).
"The NSFMW remains an essential event for those wishing to keep abreast with technical and policy developments in the field of flow measurement in the oil & gas industry."
I got introduced to metering when I started with the NPD in 2010. After 8.5 years I decided to join Neptune Energy where I was Metering Responsible for a short period. I am currently Metering & Allocation engineer at Vår Energi where I follow up partner operated assets. I am a board member with NFOGM try to be an active contributor in the metering community. I have been at the NSFMW several times and find such conferences as very important to share and gain experiences from the community.
"The NSFMW provides a platform where researchers, manufacturers and end-users can meet and exchange experiences to further develop technology and methodology and strive for better solutions for tomorrow."
Jacek is a chartered engineer with over 27 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He worked at BHRA in Cranfield in late 1980s on a project which evaluated different types of meters for multiphase flow measurement capability. He then joined British Gas as an instrument engineer specialising in flow measurement and worked on the gas terminals and gas transmission networks. In mid 1990s he moved the Centrica (midstream) as a metering engineer ensuring compliance with the commercial gas supply agreements for the custody transfer and gas allocation. In early 2010s he moved to Centrica upstream to manage a team of metering and allocation specialists, gaining operational experience. Finally started out as a freelance flow measurement consultant in late 2016.
"The workshop is a unique opportunity share experiences & challenges with colleagues, providing excellent networking opportunities from the wide range of participants. The technical aspect of the workshop provides a good platform for the dissemination of research and innovation into real world applications."
"I have attended all these workshops as this is the best technical event in the metering community where end users and suppliers share their experience and requirements for future measurement."
Morten Marstein has a M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from University of Colorado. He worked three years as a downhole wireline logging engineer in New Mexico and the North Sea before starting a 25 year career with TechnipFMC within fiscal oil and gas flow measurement which included development testing and qualification of multiphase and ultrasonic flow meters, design of fiscal metering systems, liquid sampling systems and gas analyser systems. Since 2018 he has been a metering specialist with Flux Analytic, responsible for systems design of oil, gas and LNG metering systems, consultancy work and training.
"The North Sea Flow Measurement workshop is the most important event of the year for staying updated on research, technologies and product developments related to single and multiphase flow measurement. The world’s leading manufacturers of flow meters and online analysers are on the stand and you meet people within your own industry from all over the world."
Imed Benlizidia is the Saudi Aramco multiphase flow metering specialist part of the upstream sector technical support within petroleum engineering and development. He also chairs the multiphase flow metering standard committee. In this role, he leverages his experience as both service provider and customer in the oil and gas industry to deliver fit for purpose upstream metering solutions.
Prior to joining Saudi Aramco in 2014, Imed held a variety of roles in operations, engineering, training and product development with Schlumberger and Sonatrach. He holds numerous publications for processes in the fields of multiphase flow metering and production measurement. He holds both Bachelors and Masters in electrical engineering and from both INELEC Institute in Algeria and Pierre & Marie Curie University in France.
“The North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop is probably one of the most important event in the flow measurement industry. It offers a unique opportunity to meet with the key players in order to exchange expertise, best practices and lessons learned. This is extremely crucial to bring the flow measurement technologies forward to meet oil and gas today’s requirements and tomorrow’s challenges.”
