5th December 2019
The International Conference on Seismic Design of Industrial Facilities (SeDIF Conference) will be held in Aachen for the second time on 4 and 5 March 2020. Following its successful debut in 2013, the conference will again offer experts the opportunity to engage in intensive technical exchange and communication on the seismic design of industrial facilities.
“We invite experts from the worlds of teaching, research and practice to present their research results and their normative and technical innovations and to exchange ideas and experience”, says Dr Timo Schmitt, TÜV SÜD. Over 60 national and international speakers will present their current research and application projects. Their talks and presentations will address a host of topics, including more efficient calculation and more realistic modelling as well as handling uncertainties and risks. They will give a broad overview of international standards. The new generation of the Eurocode 8 and its application to industrial facilities will be one of the central topics at the conference. This European standard addresses the seismic design of buildings.
Further topics on the agenda include seismic hazards, design of structures and components (e.g. tanks and pipelines), soil-structure interaction (SSI) and assessment of the earthquake safety of existing buildings, but also experimental investigations, inspection, monitoring and retrofitting. Interested companies can showcase their products and services at the conference exhibition.
The conference will take place at RWTH Aachen. Conference language is English. The conference organisers are TÜV SÜD, the Center for Wind and Earthquake Engineering, the Chair of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of RWTH Aachen University, SDA engineering GmbH and Fraunhofer Ernst-Mach-Institut.
