A state-of-the-art leather and leather products testing laboratory costing about Rs. 10.30 crore was inaugurated in Ranipet by Dirk Eilers, Member of the Board of Management, TÜV SÜD AG here recently. The lab was set up by TÜV SÜD in association with the South India Tanners and Dealers Association (SITDA).
According to a company release, the Council for Leather Exports has subsidised the investment towards the lab by providing a grant of Rs. 7.3 crore under the ASIDE (Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities) Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce, while SITDA had invested Rs. 3 crore. The testing lab has been established with the objective of providing premiere services to the industries.
