TÜV SÜD’s food testing lab in Gurgaon receives accreditation from Export Inspection Council

TÜV SÜD South Asia one of the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification companies in the world has received accreditation for its consumer products testing laboratory in Gurgaon by Export Inspection Council (EIC), today. The accreditation will allow TÜV SÜD South Asia to conduct quality testing procedures on various food items to be exported to every country across the world, including the European Union.

The lab located in the food manufacturing hub of Gurgaon will now be able to ensure that analyses methods meet the predefined standards of importing nations as prescribed by Export Inspection Agencies (EIA). Although the laboratory will carry out tests and quality inspections independently, it will continue to meet the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020 for testing and inspection respectively.

TÜV SÜD’s state-of-the-art food testing laboratory in Gurgaon has been recognized by the EIC to carry out chemical and microbiological analysis of products classified as:

-Fresh fruits and vegetables
-Fish and Fishery Products
-Water
-Milk and Milk Products
-Other food products such as cereal and groundnut

“We are excited to have received the accreditation by Export Inspection Council to conduct tests on its behalf. Food exports play an
instrumental role in boosting the growth of the economy. Owing to advancements in technology in the agriculture and food industry, India holds the second rank in food production globally and is the 6th largest exporter of farm produce. India certainly has the potential to be the world’s largest but in order to make it a reality, exporters should be enabled to meet the international standards of quality and the certification can help augment the credibility of our produce. Exporters from India are often subjected to rejection of consignment that leads to tremendous financial losses. A timely testing of products can mitigate these losses and can nurture our potential to contribute to our economy and thereby boost our aim to ‘Make in India. We look forward to help food exporters from India realise their dreams.’” said Dr. Pankaj Jaiminy, AVP, (Food, Health & Cosmetics) Testing, Certification & Inspection, TÜV SÜD South Asia.

The laboratory is approved to cater to the needs of the EIC/EIA in the fields of inspection and certification of the products of export, as per importing countries requirements. The lab will comply with the EU requirements for analysis of residues and contaminants in food products for the purpose of inspection and certification.
